Volker, a retired electronics engineer and former olive farmer, was born in Berlin, Germany. After a career in the industry, he decided to move to Tuscany, Italy, where he restored an ancient rural building from the 12th century and created a successful "agriturismo", a combination of farming and hospitality.
After 23 years in Italy, he decided to start the next adventure and went to Boquete to study Spanish. There he fell in love, first with Boquete and then with Maria, who became his wife a year later.
Volker loves Italian food and wine, and bakes the breakfast bread for the guests at Aparthotel Boquete. He still loves programming and creates the websites and office tools for Aparthotel Boquete.
Maria is a native Boqueteña and was born into a big family with 10 brothers and sisters.
Until her retirement, she has been the secretary of the Catholic parrish of Boquete for 24 years and has seen and helped organize many baptisms, marriages and funerals
She is still active in her parrish as a catechist for children and adults and is socially active also outside the Church. She is a member of the Lion's Club and one of its representatives in the patronage of Boquete's Flower Fair.
Maria loves the Panamanian and international cuisine and traveling. She is a talented cook and an outstaning artisan and her work decorates our house and the apartments of Aparthotel Boquete.
